The first day of our trip, last Tuesday, started out with the morning shift at the trading post. The four of us (friends from the trading post) began our three-day trek after dinner at about 6 p.m. The hike out of base camp was scenic, steep, and about five miles long, but we made it to our campsite (Tooth Ridge Camp) before sundown. That gave us enough time to set up our tents and hang our "smellables" in bear bags away from where we were sleeping. It was good to sit by the fire ring, play cards, and relax.
