June 17

Thursday, June 17, started with a windstorm. Early in the morning, the wind picked up and started blowing dust everywhere. I slept on the porch, so I just buried my head in my sleeping bag until breakfast. After we ate, I branded my belt and then went horseback riding. It was a nice and slow ride until three campers were bucked off their horses. They were not injured, but the ride came to an abrupt end. We were planning to hike to the next staffed camp, Cimarroncito, until two bear researchers pulled up and offered us a ride in their truck. We did some rock climbing at Cimarroncito, and stayed overnight.
